QAMT PROBLEM SOLVING COMPETITION

Students enter through their schools. The Competition is proudly sponsored by. All of the papers are are two hours long. Teams ONLY register once and winning teams go onto a round 2 or into the finals. Several programs are run each year.

The free annual event is open to students in years 10 to 12 and is held in July. Each team registers once only; there are no further charges for teams going on to second or final rounds. Registration is completed above using the register button. In addition to the 2-hour competition, from 10ampm, there will also be professional development provided for teachers and a free light lunch. The Problem Solving Competition will be again be held around Pi day.

On-campus activities and competitions

Non-CAS calculators may be used. The competition aims to inspire Year 10, 11 and 12 pupils who are interested in chemistry, and to acknowledge those who are becoming proficient. The problems do not usually require any qxmt knowledge than that possessed by good students but will need a certain amount of ingenuity and thought for their solution.

With the exception of the bigger regions Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts only one team from the qualifying round will be entered in the State Finals. The papers consist of questions prbolem require an answer but working should also be shown.

Thursday October 24th at UQ, St Lucia sponsorship funds will be used to provide distance-based travel subsidies for teams living more than km from Brisbane. It is held each January. Schools and local organisers convenors are able to choose dates which suit their local networks and events at any time within the dates indicated.
